LAC-Yang1 provided the strong and rapid decolorization of azo, anthraquinone, and triphenylmethane dyes, with excellent decolorization performance on mixtures of different dye types. For the first time, we systemically evaluated the effect of repeated batch decolorization of mixtures of various types of dyes, with each mixture consisting of two or three different dyes, using LAC-Yang1 laccase. LAC-Yang1 was highly effective in repeatedly decolorizing dye mixtures, including anthraquinone + anthraquinone dyes, azo + anthraquinone dyes, azo + triphenylmethane dyes, anthraquinone + triphenylmethane dyes, and three types of dyes (azo + anthraquinone + triphenylmethane). The free form of LAC-Yang1, not its immobilized form, achieved strong, repeated batch decolorization of various single dyes, binary dye mixtures, and ternary dye mixtures. Therefore, the cost of using LAC-Yang1 in the treatment of dye pollutants may be significantly decreased, highlighting its immense potential and superiority for practical applications in dye wastewater treatment, making it one of the important innovations in this study. Our study systematically and comprehensively investigated the detoxification of the phytotoxicity of dye mixtures containing two, three, and six dyes by laccase for the first time. LAC-Yang1 demonstrated a strong detoxification ability for the phytotoxicity of single dyes, binary dye mixture, ternary dye mixtures, and six-dye mixtures. To the best of our knowledge, this study was the first report on the efficient detoxification of mixed dyes containing different structural types of dyes (binary dye mixtures, ternary dye mixtures, six-dye mixtures) by the purified laccase, which was also another important innovation in this study. Taken toghther, our results showed that LAC-Yang1 exhibited strong decolorization and detoxification abilities for different dye types, both in single form and in various dye mixtures. LAC-Yang1 also allowed for strong repeated batch decolorization of both single and mixed dyes, exhibiting good stability and achieving sustained performance. These findings demonstrate that LAC-Yang1 offers significant application value and potential in the effective treatment of dye pollutants.
