Cordyceps is the common name for several insect-parasitizing fungi, particularly Ophiocordyceps sinensis (formerly Cordyceps sinensis ) and Cordyceps militaris. Extracts of these species of have been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat multiple conditions including fatigue, aging, sexual dysfunction, and diabetes. Cordyceps extracts are generally well tolerated and have not been associated with serum aminotransferase elevations during therapy or with cases of clinically apparent acute liver injury.
