CULTURING PHELLINUS LINTEUS IN SOLID MEDIUM CONTAINING CITRUS FRUITS

Abstract

PURPOSE: A method of culturing Phellinus linteus in a solid medium containing citrus fruits is provided. It permits induction of fruit bodies of Phellinus linteus within a shot time as compared to conventional artificial culturing methods and is simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

CONSTITUTION: The method for culturing Phellinus linteus comprises the steps of: culturing strains of Phellinus linteus and transplanting into liquid medium pouring citrus fruits alone or a solid medium containing above 30% by weight of citrus fruits in a vessel and sterilizing in an autoclave for sterilization at 121deg.C or more for 15 to 45min cooling the vessel containing the sterilized medium in a sterilized room, inoculating the strains of Phellinus linteus into the medium and culturing in a culture chamber. The medium is one selected from a mixture of citrus fruits and rice bran, a mixture of citrus fruits and unpolished rice, a mixture of citrus fruits, rice bran and unpolished rice and a mixture of citrus fruits and peptones.
