Abstract
The extract of Inonotus obliquus fruit bodies having improved anti-diabetic activity and an anti-diabetic composition comprising the same extract as an effective ingredient are provided to treat diabetes without side effects through the oral administration. The extract of Inonotus obliquus fruit bodies having improved anti-diabetic activity is prepared by extracting the fruit bodies of Inonotus obliquus with hot water at 105-121 deg. C for 1-24 hours twice concentrating the hot water extract, adding ethanol into the concentrated hot water extract and storing it for 1-24 hours in a refrigerator and recovering the ethanol precipitates, wherein the extract of Inonotus obliquus fruit bodies having improved anti-diabetic activity contains 1-20 wt.% of rhamnose, 1-20 wt.% of arabinose, 5-50 wt.% of mannose, 1-30 wt.% of galactose and 10-80 wt.% of glucose. The health food composition comprises 5-50 wt.% of anti-diabetic extract of Inonotus obliquus fruit bodies, 10-70 wt.% of crystalline cellulose, 1-30 wt.% of yeast extract powder containing chromium, 0.01-10 wt.% of zinc oxide, 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin A, 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin B1, 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin B2, 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin B6, 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin C and 0.001-1 wt.% of vitamin E.
