Abstract

A method of growing Pleurotus eryngii(oyster mushroom) by adding ginseng extract in the process for the production of a culture medium and spraying ginseng extract to a hypha is provided. The mushroom contains saponin components of ginseng in large quantities. A strain of Pleurotus eryngii is cultured in a natural medium containing ginseng to give spawn of Pleurotus eryngii which is inoculated into a first medium containing ginseng extract, soybean meal, white sugar, potassium phosphate and magnesium sulfate and cultured to give a liquid hypha of Pleurotus eryngii. The liquid hypha is inoculated into a second medium containing ginseng extract, sawdust, corn syrup, rice bran, wheat skin, cottonseed meal and oyster shell and cultured. After scraping the surface of the spawn, the medium surface is supplied with nutrients to allow mycelium to emerge from the spores and the mycelium are grown in spraying ginseng extract.
