A method of producing laver with a coat of Phellinus linteus powder and/or pigments by sprinkling a mixture of agar, Phellinus linteus powder, pigments and the like on laver is provided to achieve a quality upgrade by improving external appearance of laver and give the efficacy of Phellinus linteus to laver. Distilled water is heated with 0.1 to 2% by weight of agar, 0.01 to 2% by weight of carboxymethylcellulose, 0.1 to 5% by weight of calcium carbonate and 0.1 to 5% by weight of glycerin at 80 to 85deg.C, agitated with 0.05 to 0.3% by weight of Phellinus linteus powder and 0.1 to 1% by weight of pigments to make color mixture and dried on a tray at 40 to 60deg.C to make a color film containing the Phellinus linteus ingredient. The obtained film is ground, sprinkled on laver and compressed under heat. Cellulose, starch, pectin, alginate, carrageenan and the like are used instead of agar and carboxymethylcellulose.
