Abstract

A functional beverage composition containing an artichoke extract is provided to promote liver protection and detoxification, cholesterol and blood sugar-lowering effects, hangover alleviation, urination, antistress function, bile secretion and digestion. A functional beverage composition containing an artichoke extract comprises: 0.1~5wt% of an artichoke extract, 0.1~5.0wt% of betaine, 0.001~1.0wt% of a propolis solution, and the balance being refined water. The composition comprises 0.0001~10wt% of at least one additional ingredient selected from the group consisting of concentrated apple juice, calcium lactate, citric acid, apple essence, magnesium sulfate, ferrous lactate, dried Phellinus linteus, L-lysine monohydrochloride, a chlorella extract, xylitol, vitamin B2, and vitamin B12. The composition further comprises a sweetener such as crystallized fructose or sucralose, an acidifier, natural fruit juice, a flavoring agent, a medicinal herb extract, etc.
