Abstract

A compound extracted from phellinus linteus for protecting neuronal cells is provided to protect nerve cells by suppressing the extinction of nerve cells mediated by hydrogen peroxide. A compound for protecting neuronal cells, represented by the chemical formula 1 is extracted from phellinus linteus by the steps of: collecting and drying phellinus linteus, extracting phellinus linteus with ethanol, filtering ethanol extract, and concentrating the fiterate to obtain ethanol extract obtaining hexane extract by dissolving the ethanol extract in the mixed solution of hexane and H2O obtaining the active fractionation applying the hexane extract to the column chromatography using the hexane-ethylacetate concentration gradient drying the active fractionation. The composition for protecting neuronal cells comprises the compound extracted from phellinus linteus represented by the chemical formula 1.
