Abstract
Disclosed is an oral composition to maintain oral hygiene and improve the oral environment and especially an oral antibacterial composition with superior bactericidal efficacy, suppressive efficacy against growth of bacteria, etc., and which acts gently in the body. Disclosed is an oral composition that contains sesquiterpene derivatives from natural, cultivated, or cultured Phellinus linteus, and especially an oral composition in which the sesquiterpene derivative is a gamma-ionylidene derivative and/or drimane derivative. This oral composition can be used as an agent in the treatment or prevention of periodontal disease and related disease, or the form of a toothpaste, mouthwash, or lozenge, etc.
