Abstract

An antitumor substance obtained from the mycelia or fruit bodies of hen-of-the-woods (grifola frondosa) by extraction and fractionation and having a potent immunopotentiating activity. The antitumor activity and immunopotentiating power can be enhanced by extracting the mycelia or fruit bodies with hot water and adding alcohol to the extract in a final concentration of 20-70 % by volume (low-concentration addition) to remove the suspension or deposits.
